After weathering the ups & downs of the 1990’s Brick Ranch renovation process, the ah-ha moment arrives! This home has transformed into a sanctuary. The space now reflects the personality & lifestyle of it’s inhabitants.
The glass block wall (see article #1 “before” photo) no longer blocks the view of the serene back yard. The wall color & new wood floors add warmth to the space. The furniture & décor reflect the casual/modern style of the owners. The simple tile fireplace surround was replaced with stacked stone and topped with a mantle of reclaimed barn wood from a local 1880’s dairy barn. Taller colonial baseboards were installed while all of the pickled oak wood trim was painted white.
The former kitchen (see article #1 “before” photo) had pickled oak cabinets, pink laminate counter tops with a white and pink tiled backsplash. The previous tile floor also had a blush undertone. The layout was functional with ample storage, so that remained the same. The unused built in desk was converted to a wine bar complete with wine refrigerator. The wood floor from the living area was continued through the dining area into the kitchen. New shaker style cabinets were installed. The quartz counter top is maintenance free & beautiful. The old white appliances were still working but at 20 years old, they were seeing their last days. In order to keep the finished look sleek & clean, the owner choose a slide in range. The slate appliance finish is stylish and fingerprint free!
